Are there more than one type of chaeto, or do I have something else?  I've had both in my fuge for quite a while and both seem to thrive.
I've been meaning to ask this for quite a while.

I seem to have the typical kind, and another, much more 'fine' type.  The comparison would be like spaghetti vs. angel hair pasta.
Is this second type still chaeto, and if so, does it have the same 'nutrient-export' qualities of it's more coarse cousin?  Also, the thinner type is less curly than the regular chaeto.

Aside from growth form I'm not sure how different they might be, but yes there seem to be different strains of cheato out there. I've got the same cheato that I bought when I first started. Probably bought it back in January of 04 at AA not long after they opened. Its the thicker variety.

Now you got me looking Grin

I use this site all time. 4 different species of cheato are pictured. Three are nearly identical.

That saltcorner site is pretty cool.  There is a gallery section which has some amazing tanks and some interesting articles.

Yeah Bob Goemans really did a great job with it. There is so much basic info on so many critters there. One of my favorite online resources for sure.
